Adopting through a rescue: why and how
Rescues and shelters take in abandoned or at-risk animals, care for them and sometimes place them with foster families before adoption. Adopting through a rescue means giving an animal a second chance within a serious framework: health follow-up, behaviour advice, and often a real dialogue to find the right match.
Steps in a responsible adoption
A successful adoption rests on clear preparation and follow-up. In general:
- Define your criteria (species, age, compatibility with children or other animals) and your lifestyle
- Contact a rescue or shelter, discover animals available for adoption (profiles, conversations, visits)
- Meet the animal, sometimes in their foster home, to confirm the match
- Sign an adoption contract and commit to the animal's care
- Stay in touch with the rescue for any questions after adoption

Pawer is preparing a dedicated path for adopters: create a profile, enter your criteria (species, compatibility with children or other animals, etc.) and see matching animals. The adoption request will be submitted directly in the app, with transparent follow-up of your application.

The goal is to let you follow your application with full transparency and keep a direct link with the association. Less waiting, more visibility on steps and communication. Once adoption is complete, you can share important moments with the rescue if you wish.
